what is crossfit?

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
  
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. 

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen. “Courtesy of CrossFit Inc.” 


You show up for class ready to work. 3-2-1 GO! Put all your effort in and you will get results coming back out. These workouts are hard but they can be scaled for everyone. A professional coach will lead you, push you, and keep you motivated. The way we program and instruct will guide you safely and efficiently to overall health and fitness for a lifetime;
plus you will have fun along the way!

how it works

I love crossfit because no matter what level of fitness you're at, everyone is doing the same workout. you get an awesome coach and athletes that push you. i am currently going 3 times a week and i am getting stronger everyday. How can I tell? I climbed this rope 8 times today!
Talk about non-scale victories!!

When I started CrossFit, I was looking for a place to get a great workout and somewhere I would actually want to go back week after week. I found that and so much more at CrossFit Detroit Lakes. The coaches became friends that help push me to achieve much more than I ever felt possible, all while insuring I am doing the workout properly and safely. The fellow athletes became family and cheer as I am pushed to my limits. The excitement of a new WOD everyday keeps me coming back for more! I found something much more than a place to workout, I found a community! A community of great coaches, amazing athletes and awesome workouts that keep me coming back for more!

What I didn't expect to find from joining CrossFit was a community of coaches, there to help you do and be your best. They are patient and helpful and full of encouragement. I've formed friendships with some amazing people, who I know are there for the same reasons I am. The support is truly what keeps me coming back. CrossFit has helped me in so many more ways than I ever expected. I am more organized with my whole life so I can make it to classes. My nutrition was a huge downfall and now that I'm working hard at the gym, my food & diet choices reflect what my goals are. I never in a million years thought I could be where I am today and now, I know the sky is the limit.

After being a Gymnast for 7 years I blew out my knee twice and wasn't able to be active in Gymnastics anymore. I was missing all the challenging fitness and competitions from Gymnastics and decided to give Crossfit a chance. I fell in love with not only the atmosphere of the gym but also the community. I was even coming to classes only a couple weeks after surgery. Crossfit has helped push me to try new experiences that I never imagined I would ever be doing. Some of these experiences include competing in a Crossfit Competition and running a 10k! But one of my favorite take aways from this gym would definitely be the support from the people around you and the friends you make!

I started going to Cfdl a little over 3 years ago. I was excited to start a gym routine that was high intensity, time efficient (only an hour), & challenging. After joining & becoming more and more comfortable with the movements and the workouts, I soon came to find out that this “gym” was more than just a “gym.” CFDL is a place where friendships are made, inner and outer strength is developed, and memories are made. The team of athletes at CFDL is like one big family, people of all ages, coming together to encourage, push, and support one another through each and every work out! Athletes bring their kids, parents, and other family members to workouts to try it and be a part of this family we have created at CFDL. Cfdl isn’t just a gym, it’s a community of people that are working hard each and every day to be the best possible version of themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially! I love this place!

I am so thankful I decided to join CrossFit DL 3 years ago! I have challenged myself both mentally and physically and have been rewarded time and time again! I have always been athletic but CrossFit has helped me develop new skills and accomplish so many things I never dreamt possible! As a “Masters” athlete, it is fun to see what my body is still capable of!! The coaches are amazing and will take the time to provide individual guidance ensuring safety first! The best part of all – the people!! I have met so many GREAT people at CrossFit DL, they are like family! The community is what makes CrossFit DL truly special!

I have been going to crossfit Detroit lakes pretty much since they opened and have gained so much....Not only have I gotten stronger and more fit, learned a lot about nutrition but I have made some great friends. It's like a second home. I have accomplished and witnessed so many big and small goals met in the box. The coaches are all very helpful and attentive. Always making sure that you are doing movements correctly and helping you push through those tough WODs. CFDL is not intimidating like some gyms can be. Everyone is very inviting to new members or drop-ins. It's a great place to get stronger, faster and healthier, and be a part of an amazing community.

First off I love CrossFit! I started crossfit a year and half ago. My first crossfit class I thought this is not for me I don't like when other people are watching me workout but I thought what the hell why not pay for a month! My next few classes I fell in deep love like a love hate relationship I didn't know existed! When someone asks me what CrossFit is I respond by saying a lifestyle, friendship, and bond you will never regret gaining! Crossfit is my second family and it is a part or piece of my life now! I keep coming back to CrossFit because it's feels right and I feel good! CrossFit has made me a healthier mommy and wife which is most important to me!

I love the community that I have become a part of. They are so encouraging and supportive. I tell people I do Crossfit to make other people feel better about themselves, especially new people. I am not the strongest or the fastest. I am usually last to finish, and I am OK with that. The encouragement the "team" gives me to finish the work out really is motivating. I need that encouragement. I have found that I can not excercise on my own at a high level. Crossfit brings that part out of me. The only thing I don't like about Crossfit, Burpees! I HATE Brupees!!!

When I first began crossfit, I was doing it to look better and to keep up with my husband's transformation. After prioritizing it into my schedule, four times a week, it quickly became an obsession to do better and be better than I was yesterday. After having thyroid cancer and the result of "getting normal" afterwards, the community support is really what keeps me coming back and even upping my game to five times a week. I love the change in my energy levels and the people that I now know. We are setting big goals for ourselves which include triathlons, competitions, and marathons.

Crossfit DL is perfect for athletes (or aspiring athletes) all ages. I'm one of the oldest athletes (45) and I've never felt "old" at CFDL. The coaches are awesome! They challenge you & help modify workouts to make every workout the best it can be. I love CF because I'm always trying to better myself and it's never a competition with others. It's a supportive family who helps you reach your goals!
